Petrol Valencia and Engineer Now Available

New Polarized Driving Sunglass Styles from Petrol Eyewear

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. USA, July 29, 2009 — Petrol Eyewear today introduced the Valencia and Engineer, two Italian-made driving sunglasses offering lightweight and comfortable frames featuring Petrol’s best-in-class Polarized VisoChromatic™ Repelium™ lenses. Both styles offer prescription-

friendly 6-base frames composed of impact-resistant Grilamid®—the Valencia in gloss black or a brown/tortoise combination, and the Engineer in gloss black or dark tortoise. All four frame choices have a richness comparable to fine acetate, but without the weight and shape-loss problems inherent in acetate, particularly notable during the warm weather months.

What’s truly unique about the Valencia and Engineer, however, is their lens technology. Petrol VisoChromatic lenses automatically adjust lens darkness to surrounding light conditions, from 29% to 9% visible light transmission in bronze lenses and 34% to 12% in grey lenses. Unlike other polarized photochromic lenses that react only to ultraviolet light (UV), Petrol VisoChromatics react to both UV and visible light, allowing them to partially darken behind UV-blocking auto glass. This results in glare-cutting comfort while driving, and an even darker lens for full-sun activity outside the car. In their fully darkened state, the lenses provide full protection from harmful UV rays (absorption to 400 nanometers) and dramatically reduce the level of damaging, high-intensity visible light or blue light that passing through the lens. This not only protects the eye, but also sharpens the wearer’s vision by removing the haze-like effect of scattered, high-intensity light waves. Petrol achieves these benefits while maintaining razor-sharp clarity, color recognition, and surpassing all international standards for a transitioning Category 2-3 driving lens.
